Victoria's chance questions


Victoria’s Chance

1.            What was your reaction to the Kpodziemo (po-JAY-mo)?

This is something extremely different from our culture, but seems like a very great way to celebrate the life of the entrance of a new healthy baby into the world.

2.           What is the educational background of Victoria’s parents? What are their goals for Victoria? Is there a connection? Explain.

Her mother’s parents could not afford to pay for school for Victoria’s mother. Her father also did not go to school, but is a fisherman. The parent’s goals are for Victoria to follow her dreams and become a doctor without the struggles that they had.

3.           What value do poor, uneducated people in developing countries place on schooling?

They give it have a high value because they want the best for their children.

4.           What kind of educational opportunities do girls have in Ghana?

They have better opportunities because they have more free time, rather than the men who work labor.

5.           What are some problems with the free schools provided by the government in Ghana?

They are not good at all, do not provide a good education because they don’t gain money from the students’ parents.

 

6.           Why do you think these problems persist?

It is a very poor country and does not put the proper funding into the education of the children.

7.           Why are Victoria’s parents so concerned about her education?

They want her to become somebody important in the world.

8.           Why are poor parents in African villages willing to pay for private schooling?

They want the best for their children.

 

9.           Is education worth the sacrifice these parents are making?

Yes, education is what gives the children the opportunities to become what they dream to be, without education, they will not be able to get anywhere.

10.        What makes schools like the Supreme Academy more accountable to parents?

They get paid, so if they don’t do their job, they get fired.

 

11.         What happens when multiple schools are competing for students?

It’s better for the parents and kids because the students make their school the best.

12.        In today’s Global Market, how would a more educated village impact the world market? 

a.       Jobs: A more educated village would give the village people more job opportunities which would help the village prosper.

b.      Competitions: They would be able to compete with other companies even for their products which they make.

c.       Exports: A more educated village would help them be able to export the goods that they can make readily.

d.      Imports: They will be able to buy and import things like medical necessities and things like that.

reflections

Reflections:
     1. I enjoyed learning more information about things on my bucket list, figuring out that some are actually realisticly affordable to do, but some others are outrageous for pricing.
     2. I learned how to use movie maker and how to make a movie, so i could be able to make another movie on something outside of school projects if i wanted to.
     3. No, not that i can think of, for any classes i have had.
     4. Yes, to be able to make movies about the nig vacations i have done.
     5. I had problems figuring out how to upload the sounds, but that was it.
     6. I enjoyed this project.

1.       His company is “Solutions Plus LLC”, and works within the VA (Veterans Administration) health care system.

2.       He is the owner/consultant.

3.       They do health care, performance improvement consulting.

4.       He got a Master’s in business and administration.

5.       Yes he enjoys his job, and is happy when he is getting ready to go to work.

Mom:

1.       She works at Ford Motor Company, (Dearborn, MI)

2.       She is a market research manager.

3.       She does market research, surveying car customers about their values and attitudes to help the company update and develop new vehicles.

4.       A four year college degree is necessary and she also got a master’s degree in business and administration.
      5. Yes, she enjoys her job so she looks forward to going to work most days.
